Beginning in 2008, Washington state high school seniors must pass the WASL in order to
graduate. This year, students in California will be denied a diploma if they don't pass the CAHSEE (California
High School Exit Exam), the equivalent of our WASL. Currently, 100,000 students have yet to pass the CAHSEE. Are
there lessons to be learned from the experience of this year's California seniors? What can Washington state
expect in two years as the WASL becomes a graduation requirement? Reporter Jenny Cunningham covers the story.
